Advantage West Midlands

Advantage West Midlands is the Regional Development Agency (RDA) for the West Midlands. It was established by the Government in 1999 along with seven other RDAs, to transform England's regions through sustainable economic development. All RDAs are non-departmental public bodies that are accountable to the Department of Trade and Industry.

School of Computer Science

The School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham has an established reputation for research and teaching in Computing. We offer degrees in disciplines allied to computer science, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. We also have six world leading research groups housed in a state of the art building on the Edgbaston Campus.

Informatics Collaborative Research Network

The Informatics Collaborative Research Network (CRN), based in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, initiates, promotes and maintains inter-disciplinary research across campus and encourages collaboration on research projects across a range of academic disciplines, with a common interest in the field of informatics. The scope of 'informatics' as an enabling technology is diverse with a variety of applications, to name but a few: e-science, bioinformatics, analysis of complex systems, modelling software, and high throughput processing. The CRN assists the University in bringing together the expertise and skills which allow the development of new research activity.

The iCentrum project provides information on new and emerging technologies, testing laboratories and a range of other facilities, to help small to medium IT and communication companies grow.
